A Letter From Oklahoma:

I am currently in Oklahoma visiting my family for the holidays, a far cry from my home in NYC.

The following is an exact quote directed towards me from one of my darling twin nieces, eleven years old:

“The land you live on may be worth ten million dollars, but the land I live on is worth as many bullets as I can put in the air.”

Cheers, little girl. You win.

  2. Living in West Virginia, this is not uncommon to hear. We may not have much, but we own the land that our double wide sits on, and we can open our back door and spotlight deer all year long.

    That people, is freedom.

  3. I’m from Kentucky, and over the holidays we watched Will Ferrell and John C. Riley be interviewed on Larry King as their characters from Talledega Nights. Two of my relatives (by marriage, thankfully) insisted that they were real racecar drivers, as evidenced by the fact that Dale Earnhart Jr. called in to comment. Dear Lord.
